#Relationship Goals ~ Two Decades Later...

Twenty years ago today, I walked down the aisle toward the love of my life and never looked back. They all said we were too young and would never last. (People have a lot of nerve to say the darndest things! And guess what--they are all divorced now!) I've never been very good at listening to other people but, man, am I glad I listened to my heart when it told me I'd found the one person I wanted to spend the rest of my life with!

The vows we took were spot-on. The bad times have been liberally sprinkled in with the good times and we've had our share of sickness and health. But the one thing that has never wavered is our love. No matter what was happening around us and regardless of the people who futilely tried to rip us apart, we stayed strong and kept loving each other because we didn't know any other way.

We have continued to cherish each other in a way that not many people can understand. They don't understand the choices we made either. But we've chosen to live our own life and not one we were "supposed" to. We've never let anything or anyone come between us. Our love defines us and makes us strong enough to face whatever obstacles life throws at us.

So, as we celebrate this milestone, I want to wish my best friend, my lover, my husband, my everything, a very Happy Anniversary. You understand me like no one else and because of you I've been able to chase after my dreams with you by my side, encouraging me, and loving me and all of my faults. You are the smartest, funniest, kindest, most genuine person I know.

I look forward to holding your hand for 20+ more years...

I love you, D. "Very much,"
RV
