Summer of Hockey

Fort Bragg, CA

We're already experiencing triple digit temperatures here in the valley, so I decided to skip town and spend the day at the beach!

What better way to unwind and refresh than by staring out at the endless ocean and writing my name in the sand? We took about 500 photos and had a blast wiggling our toes in the sand and listening to the soothing sound of the waves crashing against the rocks. You can read more about the cool beach birds we saw over on my birding blog, Wings & Daydreams.

Whenever I'm at the ocean, I can't help but hum my favorite Kooks song, Seaside.

Well, I'd better get back to the writing cave and quit frolicking on the beach! There's work to be done! My latest book is coming along nicely and I can't wait to share it with you.

Wishing you sandy toes and salty kisses this summer,
💜RV

#Relationship Goals ~ Two Decades Later...

Twenty years ago today, I walked down the aisle toward the love of my life and never looked back. They all said we were too young and would never last. (People have a lot of nerve to say the darndest things! And guess what--they are all divorced now!) I've never been very good at listening to other people but, man, am I glad I listened to my heart when it told me I'd found the one person I wanted to spend the rest of my life with!

The vows we took were spot-on. The bad times have been liberally sprinkled in with the good times and we've had our share of sickness and health. But the one thing that has never wavered is our love. No matter what was happening around us and regardless of the people who futilely tried to rip us apart, we stayed strong and kept loving each other because we didn't know any other way.

We have continue to cherish each other in a way that not many people can understand. They don't understand the choices we made either. But we've chosen to live our own life and not one we were "supposed" to. We've never let anything or anyone come between us. Our love defines us and makes us strong enough to face whatever obstacles life throws at us.

So, as we celebrate this milestone, I want to wish my best friend, my lover, my husband, my everything, a very Happy Anniversary. You understand me like no one else and because of you I've been able to chase after my dreams with you by my side, encouraging me, and loving me and all of my faults. You are the smartest, funniest, kindest, most genuine person I know.

I look forward to holding your hand for 20+ more years...

I love you, D. "Very much,"

Zootopia

So, I went to Sacramento on a research trip and stopped by the Sacramento Zoo!

Read more about my visit and see the cute animal pics I posted over on my birding blog here. I could have watched the red pandas for hours!

This guy is my new desktop wallpaper!

Ice Flambé Playlist

It's been a while since I've put together a playlist for one of my books, so I thought it'd be fun to share with you some music that helped inspire Ice Flambé. Do you like to listen to music while you read?

I love listening to music when I'm writing and these songs are the perfect companion to my latest book! It's impossible not to think of Lucas and Morgana while Jared Leto is belting out hauntingly beautiful lyrics!

Ice Flambé Playlist

See Me Now - The Kooks

Alibi - Thirty Seconds to Mars

Blind - Lifehouse

Not Alone - Red

The Kill (Bury Me) - Thirty Seconds to Mars

Every Time You Go - 3 Doors Down

Where Do I Begin - Sick Puppies

Are there any songs that make you think of your favorite book when you hear them?
